Our projects are always community-focused and are designed to improve the quality of local communities in the Ewaso Ngiro area in southern Kenya.
With the loss of the head of the family, Maasai widows endure loss of status, property and inheritance rights. In order to generate income they are forced to remove their children from school to help tending animals and other household duties.
By working with widows and their families we provide assistance to enable children attend school and receive a good education in order to provide for the family in the future.
Our primary school also offers employment opportunities to the widows we support.
Situated in rural Ewaso Gniro, southern Kenya, our primary school brings hope to a lot of children that were previously denied the opportunity to obtain an education due to the long distances to the nearest government school, wild animals and poverty.
The school opened in May 2013 with one classroom and 51 students and. Today we are proud to support 163 students with 8 classroms and 10 teachers.
The school is able to accommodate young girls, who face the dangers of FGM and early pregnancy, during high-risk holiday periods. Our goal is to build a dormitory for girls to extend the protection that we can offer.
Supporting our students throughout their academic careers is a must. That is why we also support our pupils after they leave the Building Hope Academy, through high school and all the way through university.
We proudly support 38 local boys and girls to get the right education and enable them to fulfil their career dreams, with the hopes of one day giving back to their local community.
All our programs are active and growing every day. We keep track of the success and impact they bring to each of the communities. We are very proud of these numbers.
We help the maasai widows carry on with their lives after the passing of their husbands.
Built to bring education to a remote area in southern Kenya, this school is now full of students and growing every term.
We ensure that those students who want to continue their studies, can, by sponsoring their way all the way to uni.
We partner with some local and international organisations that help us achieve our goals. We are forever grateful to everyone that contributes to our cause.
From short and long-term volunteering to making small donations, there is plenty of ways to help The Nairoshi Foundation continue its task.
Come to Kenya and volunteer with us. We’re sure it will be a once in a lifetime experience. We have a comfortable guesthouse on the school grounds, there is a lively Maasai market every Saturday and some wonderful local hikes where you will see amazing wildlife.
Volunteering opportunities are open to everyone, no previous experience required.
We are striving to become self-sufficient but until then the support of our friends in Kenya and internationally is so important to the ongoing success of the Nairoshi Foundation.
Any financial contribution, however large or small, will directly benefit the widows and children that we support. We are sincerely grateful for your support.
Want to contribute as one of our associated partner companies? We want to hear from you!
We have many exciting projects that would benefit from your support, including building a dormitory to protect girls from FGM, increasing the students access to IT, and adding Grade 7 and 8 classes.
